The current and future effects of climate change are real and pose a serious risk to our natural ecosystems, economies and life as we know it. In order to reduce this risk and the impact of climate change, significant, real and measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are required. While regulatory schemes and frameworks for reducing carbon emissions provide the best vehicle for significant reductions, voluntary action and reductions by organizations and individuals are also required.

Alone, carbon offsets are not a solution to climate change. However, as a complement to actions that reduce emissions, carbon offsets can assist in neutralizing emissions from activities that cannot otherwise be avoided.
